Brentford loanees Jayden Meghoma and Benjamin Arthur started as Portsmouth defeated Cardiff City 2-0 in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The duo helped secure a win on an emotional day at Fratton Park, as Pompey paid tribute to club legend Alan Knight, who passed away earlier in the week.

Meghoma moved to the south-coast club on Deadline Day and was thrown straight into the starting XI. He played 65 minutes before being replaced by Zak Swanson and was denied a debut assist by the offside flag.

Arthur, meanwhile, featured for the duration of what was his fifth appearance of the season. Conor Shaughnessy and Marko Milovanović were on target for John Mousinho’s side.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Romelle Donovan started for Sheffield United in a 3-1 home loss against Norwich City.

The young winger, who scored a stoppage-time winner against Bolton Wanderers in the previous midweek, played 77 minutes at Bramall Lane.

Yunus Konak, meanwhile, came off the bench to help Lincoln City salvage a point in a 1-1 draw against Southampton.

In League Two, Matt Cox and Josh Stephenson started for Barnet and Crewe Alexandra, respectively.

Cox’s Barnet drew 3-3 at Chesterfield while Stephenson and the Alex were held to a 1-1 draw by York City at Mornflake Stadium. Julian Eyestone was on the bench for Rotherham United’s 1-0 loss at Bristol Rovers.

North of the border, Ben Krauhaus and Falkirk looked set for their first win of the Scottish Premiership campaign but were denied by a 93rd-minute Dundee United equaliser. Krauhaus played the first 65 minutes of the 1-1 draw at Tannadice Park.

Finally, Michael Olakigbe continued his fine form at WSG Tirol by starring in an Austrian Cup second round victory against Leithaprodersdorf. Olakigbe provided a goal and an assist in the 4-0 success.
