Paul Hayes gave Brentford a boost in their promotion push earlier this week without even playing for The Bees.

The striker is on loan at Crawley Town and scored one and made one as they beat Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night.

Sheffield United started the match a place and a point behind Brentford with a game in hand but Crawley held them and then took the win in the second half.

Paul came off the substitute’s bench to set up the first goal for Billy Clarke and then score the match-clinching second.

The striker has now scored twice in seven appearances for Crawley and agreed this week to extend his loan at the Sussex side until the end of the season.

He was the only Brentford player out on loan to see any action this week.

Brentford scholars Josh Clarke and Tyrell Miller-Rodney are currently with Carshalton Athletic, of the Ryman Premier League, on work experience.

Carshalton did not play this week.

Development Squad defender Alfie Mawson is with Maidenhead United, of the Blue Square Bet South.

Maidenhead lost 1-0 to Sutton United on Tuesday night but Alfie missed out with an injury.

Youth Team central defender Stefan Tomasevic is with Hayes and Yeading United, of the Blue Square Bet South, on a work experience basis.

Hayes and Yeading did not play this week.
