Development Squad midfield player Joe Maloney has returned from a loan spell at Calor League Premier Division Burnham.

Joe linked up with the Buckinghamshire club in late November and an agreement was in place for him to stay for the rest of the 2013/14 campaign.

He has, however, returned early to Griffin Park.

Joe played five games for Burnham and they won three and drew one of them.

Ose Aibangee, Brentford FC Academy Director, said: “Joe’s loan spell at Burnham went well.

“He made an impact and got some regular First Team football.

“He was playing competitive games against men and that has helped his development.

“Joe came through it well and made a contribution.

“He is now back with us as we felt it would be a good time to assess how he has progressed.

“There may be an opportunity for him to go out on loan elsewhere this season.

“He can also play in the large number of Development Squad fixtures coming up.”

Joe came through the Brentford youth ranks and signed a two-year scholarship in the summer of 2011.

He had two injury hit years and was given an extension to his scholarship to take him to October 2013.

He signed a professional contract until the end of the 2013/14 season as part of the Development Squad and has played two Under-21 Professional Development League Two South games this term.

Joe, 18, played 12 Under-18 Professional Development League Two South games last season and made one appearance in the FA Youth Cup.

He also played three games for the Development Squad last season.

This season he has played three Under-21 Professional Development League matches for the Development Squad.
