Brentford midfield player Jan Holldack has joined Wuppertaler SV on a half-season loan deal. The 20-year-old completed the temporary switch to the German side today, Friday 20 January, moving back to his home country, subject to international clearance. Jan will spend the rest of the 2016/17 season with the fourth tier side, who are currently on a winter break and will resume their league season next month.

Dean Smith, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “Jan needs to go and play regular games. He has the opportunity to go and do that back in Germany. He has gone there until the end of the season so that he can get some much needed game time."

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, added: "Jan's contract with Brentford ends this summer. We will be closely monitoring his progress at Wuppertaler before making a decision on whether to offer him a new contract for next season. There is no doubt he needs to play games at this stage of his career and so this move works well for all parties."

Jan joined The Bees in the summer of 2015 after his contract at 1. FC Köln expired. The German under-18 international had been with Köln since he was 15 and played for them in the Under-17 and Under-19 Bundesliga. Jan played 31 games for Brentford’s Development Squad last season, featuring in both midfield and defence. He also scored 14 goals. Jan made his Brentford debut in the EFL Cup against Exeter City in August after featuring for the First Team in pre-season, he was also an unused substitute against Huddersfield Town on the opening day of the Sky Bet Championship season.
