Ilias Chatzitheodoridis has extended his Brentford B contract for a further two years. The 19-year-old signed his new deal today, Thursday 2 March, and is now committed to the Club until the summer of 2019. Ilias joined The Bees in the summer after a successful trial having previously been on the books at Arsenal. The teenager, who can play at left back or on the left of midfield, has already made progress towards the First Team, being named as a substitute against Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in the season.

Ilias completed a two-year scholarship at Arsenal last summer. He had been at the Premier League side’s academy in Greece while playing for a local team. The 19-year-old played for The Gunners in the UEFA Youth League and the Under-21 Premier League last season before joining Brentford’s B Team. He has played 26 times for the B Team this season, scoring once.

Rob Rowan, Brentford FC Head of Football Operations, said: "Ilias has developed very well since he joined the Club in the summer. He has become a key player for the B Team and been close to featuring for the First Team.

“He's a pleasure to work with for the staff, whether it be B Team or First Team. His attitude and application is consistently at a high level which explains his rapid progress to date. He now has a further two years to work on his development plan and try to enhance his strengths and improve his weaknesses.”
