More than 350 people were enthralled by Ian Wright and Duncan MacKenzie at the latest Brentford Football Club Sporting Dinner. The event was held at the Radisson Blu Edwardian, Heathrow, on Thursday, 28 March, and sponsored by the Brentford FC Lifeline Society. It was a huge success with former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright and Duncan MacKenzie, who played for Everton, Leeds United and Chelsea among others, being the two guest speakers. The compere and comedian for the evening was Jed Stone.

This Sporting Dinner sold out more than a month in advance and our guests enjoyed a three course meal before listening to the many highlights of both Ian and Duncan’s playing careers for their respective clubs. Peter Gilham, who is celebrating 50 years as the voice of Griffin Park, was presented with a engraved glass bowl by new Chief Executive, Jon Varney in recognition to his services to the Club.

As this was also a fundraising evening, there was also a main auction where members of the audience could bid for such prizes as a day out at Silverstone driving a Porsche car around the Grand Prix circuit, a speedboat trip for ten people around the shores of Southampton and a Flight Simulator Experience followed by a champagne dinner for two in the Pillars Restaurant at the University of West London.

Brentford Head Coach Thomas Frank, Assistant Head Coach Brian Reimer, Assistant First Team Coach Kevin O Connor, and past Brentford Legends, Andy McCulloch, Marcus Bean, Terry Evans and Marcus Gayle were also in attendance to listen to the stories from the
