Jonathan Douglas gave The Bees the lead but the Blue Square Bet South side levelled up just before half time.

Clayton Donaldson scored twice in the second period after Harry Forrester had restored Brentford's lead and The Bees took the spoils.

A Brentford win was by no means certain at half time, Hayes were deservedly level and Simon Moore in the Brentford goal was argaubly the game's key man.

But as both teams made changes at the break - Brentford made nine changes at half time and two more in the second period while Hayes played two different XIs - The Bees took control.

Simon Moore had already made one decent save from Tobi Amokeodo before Brentford went ahead - Douglas lashing in after a Farid El Alagui header had been saved - and was even busier after.

He made a superb double save from Dan Spence and Jerome Anderson before he denied former Brentford Development Squad midfield player Josh Ekim.

The equaliser came when trialist Andy Taylor played a pass across defence and Daniel Wishart picked up the loose ball ahead of Leon Legge before finishing low.

The Bees were much the better side after half time and Josh Clarke came close to giving Brentford the lead before Forrester finished off a Donaldson knock down.

Donaldson made it three soon after, bundling home after Mikael Jaimez-Ruiz saved a chipped effort from trialist striker Juvhel Tsoumou.

Brentford had chances to make it more convincing - Forrester forced Jaimez-Ruiz in to a save and then hit the post while Donaldson hit a shot in to the side netting.

Donaldson made it four late on, nodding home an Antonio German shot after good work on the right by Youth Team player Clarke.
