Yehor Yarmoliuk has signed a new five-year contract with Brentford, with a club option for an additional year.

Yarmoliuk made 16 appearances for Brentford B last season - scoring three times and assisting twice – and made his first-team debut in November 2022 as the Bees faced Gillingham in the Carabao Cup.

Yarmoliuk’s 2022/23 campaign was cut short due to injury, but he has worked his way back to full fitness and will begin pre-season as a member of the first-team squad, following his promotion to Brentford’s senior group earlier this month.

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank said: “It is great news that Yehor has signed a new long-term contract. I am pleased for him and also pleased that the coaches and I will get to work with him because he is a very talented young player who still has a lot of development potential.

“He was very unfortunate to pick up an injury last season; he had already made an impact in training and earned a debut and may have played more matches but for the injury.

“He is now fully fit again and ready for the start of pre-season. He earned his promotion to the first-team group and is ready to kick on again.

"The coaching staff are excited to see what he can do. We really believe he will continue to develop and if he does, he has a great future with us.”

Yarmoliuk joined the Bees from Ukrainian side SC Dnipro-1 last summer.

The midfielder came through the ranks at Dnipro and made his senior debut for the side in June 2020 against Vorskla Poltava, becoming the second-youngest player to feature in the top tier of Ukrainian football at 16 years and 140 days.

Yarmoliuk has also been recognised internationally, having made his debut for Ukraine's Under-21s at the age of just 16.
