Thomas Frank and his Brentford team have been awarded the Utilita Performance of the Week award for the Bees' 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The LMA panel comprises Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Rachel Yankey, Les Ferdinand, Clare Tomlinson, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry.

And they decided that Brentford's victory over the Blues - the Bees' third-successive win at Stamford Bridge - was deserving of the Performance of the Week award.

Chelsea dominated the ball, but the Bees made their moments count as second-half goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo secured three points for the Bees in SW6.

After the game, Frank said: "In the first half, I wasn’t pleased with the performance - I think we were average at best. Chelsea were good in that first 45 minutes and we weren’t defending as well as we normally do, we were hanging in there.

“So, at half-time, I asked the players to believe, that was the first thing, and to trust themselves - we had so much more to add.

"A big thing was the coolness on the ball, a big thing was getting a few more passes together when we could, and we also adjusted a few bits defensively.

“Then, throughout that second half, the performance means the result is fully fair.”

Brentford won the same award when they beat Chelsea 4-1 during the 2020/21 campaign, as well as twice last season for standout victories at Manchester City and at home to Liverpool.
