Four players who missed Brentford’s defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend are back in training and in contention for selection ahead of the Aston Villa clash on Saturday.
Mikkel Damsgaard was absent from the 3-1 defeat at the City Ground after becoming a father last weekend, but the midfielder is in contention for the Villans’ visit to TW8.
Ethan Pinnock had a low-grade muscle injury that kept him out of the Forest game. However, he has trained fully this week, as has Yunus Emre Konak, who was unavailable due to an ankle ligament injury. Both could feature this weekend.
Another returning midfielder is Paris Maghoma, who has been unavailable since the end of last term and missed the Bees’ pre-season trip to Portugal with a hamstring injury. After completing his rehabilitation and a full week of training, he may be in Saturday’s squad.
There is also an update on the players who currently remain sidelined and won’t be available for the visit of Unai Emery’s side to Gtech Community Stadium.
Vitaly Janelt is making good progress from his heel surgery last March. The 27-year-old has trained with the first-team squad for the first time this week.
Gustavo Nunes is back on the pitch and is completing running drills with the medical and performance team after his hamstring injury sustained against Gil Vicente in pre-season.
