Brentford goalkeeper Matt Cox has joined Sky Bet League Two side Shrewsbury Town on loan.

The 22-year-old will spend the rest of the 2025/26 season with Salop, who currently sit 22nd in the fourth tier.

Cox joined Brentford B from AFC Wimbledon in July 2021, before being promoted to the first team a year later.

The keeper was loaned to League One side Bristol Rovers for the 2023/24 campaign, where he made 34 appearances.

Cox went back on loan to the third tier with Crawley Town in January 2025. He suffered an injury in his third appearance for the club and returned to west London.

This term, he has made one appearance for Brentford B in the Premier League Cup against Luton Town Under-21s in December, which the Bees won 2-1.

Cox is an England youth international and was named in the young Lions’ squad for the 2022 UEFA European Under-19s Championship, starting in four of the team's five matches as they lifted the trophy.

He has since made seven caps for England U20s and was called up to the U21s on three occasions.
