The draw for round three of the Carabao Cup will take place on the evening of Wednesday 26 August, live on Sky Sports.

Brentford reached this stage after a 6-1 victory against Championship side Birmingham City at St Andrew’s on Tuesday night and will find out their next opponents following the televised tie between Preston North End and Everton.

Keith Andrews’ side - who are ball number 10 - are one of 32 teams left in the competition and will be joined in the draw by the 22 other winners from round two and the nine Premier League sides competing in European competitions this term.

To accommodate for the clubs involved in the UEFA Champions League or Europa League, ties in round three will be scheduled across the weeks commencing 7 and 14 September.

Before the main draw, there will be a pre-draw – televised during the build-up to the Preston v Everton tie - to decide whether those eight clubs will be home or away in round three.

In the main draw, the first eight ties will involve those teams and the final eight ties will be drawn as normal.

From the third round onwards, the Carabao Cup is not regionalised.
