Brentford head coach Keith Andrews has provided an update on Reiss Nelson ahead of Sunday's Premier League match against Leeds United (4.30pm kick-off GMT), live on Sky Sports.
The Bees will be without the suspended Kevin Schade at Gtech Community Stadium this weekend after the German forward picked up his fifth booking of the season against Tottenham Hotspur.
Nelson was absent from that trip to Spurs as well as the midweek match against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium, and with Dango Ouattara also set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations next week, Andrews was asked about his attacking options.
"Reiss is doing pretty well," the west Londoners' head coach revealed.
"He took a knock a week or so ago, so we'll see how he shapes up for Sunday. He should be in and around being available for Sunday. We'll see how he goes over the next few days.
"There are going to be opportunities for lots of players over the coming weeks with the nature of the games that we have and the schedule over Christmas being a busy one.
"You need a squad that compete on a daily basis to set the environment that's needed to play with an edge, I think we do that pretty well."
Leeds sit 16th in the Premier League ahead of their visit to the Gtech, having picked up four points from home games against Chelsea and Liverpool in their last two outings.
"They're a resilient team that have shown a lot of character in recent weeks in particular, with the results and performances they've had," Andrews added.
"They've alternated between the two systems that they've operated with [5-3-2 and 4-3-3]. We'll prepare for both of those systems and whatever they throw at us.
"But we're in a good place at home so as per usual, we'll focus mainly on ourselves."
