Keith Andrews has confirmed that Callum Wilson will feature in Brentford's Carabao Cup second-round tie against Birmingham City on Tuesday night (8pm kick-off BST, live on Sky Sports+).

The Bees head coach also revealed there will be changes at St. Andrew’s, but believes his squad's depth and quality put Brentford in a strong position to compete on multiple fronts.

Wilson made his competitive Brentford debut from the bench during Saturday's 3-0 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur, having joined the club on a free transfer following his departure from West Ham United this summer.

Andrews confirmed: "Callum will certainly feature again tomorrow. He's been excellent in pre-season. He's got up to speed really quickly.

"He's someone who looks after himself very, very well and he's played a big part already behind the scenes in what we're doing and how we're trying to mould this next chapter."

With Brentford facing three games in nine days, including a trip to Elland Road to face Leeds United on Sunday, Andrews confirmed he will make use of the options available to him at St. Andrew's.

"I think the squad will be used over the course of these games this week and the weeks right up until the international break," he said.

"We have that depth, we have that quality. So many of the decisions on who starts are very, very marginal.

"Will there be changes tomorrow? Yes. How many? I'm not telling you, obviously!

"But we've got a really good squad that I'm really, really happy with."

Asked about managing his players through the busy schedule, Andrews added: "They're professional footballers, it's what they do.

"We've got them into a good place. We think we've come through the game on Saturday pretty well on that front, so I think we'll be okay with that."

Brentford reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup last season before being knocked out by Manchester City, and Andrews believes his squad is equipped to challenge in the domestic competitions again this term.

"Certainly in my time at the club over the last couple of years, and last year when I became head coach, I really wanted to try and push as far as we could go," he explained.

"We got to the quarter-finals of the League Cup and were beaten by Man City.

"We tried to find the balance between how many substitutions we made, how many players rotated in and out on any given week, and then the challenge of the schedule and the depth of your squad.

"But now we feel like we're in a good place to attack the domestic competitions on a really good level."

Asked whether another deep run was possible, Andrews replied: "I certainly hope so. That's the plan.

"It would be nice to go all the way, but there are a lot of obstacles that will come before then. First up is Birmingham.

"We've got a really difficult game. We'll be confident, and we should be confident that we can produce a performance, but we'll have to play well to come through.

"We're confident in where we are, but we're nothing but respectful about the opposition and obviously that starts tomorrow in this competition."
