Ellery Balcombe has again been included in the England Under-18 squad as they head to Qatar for three games later this month. The goalkeeper will join up with his teammates this weekend before heading out to the Qatari capital Doha for a match against Saudi Arabia followed by two against the hosts.

The Brentford B goalkeeper made his England Under-18 bow against Sweden last October before earning his second cap in a 2-0 win over Poland a month later. The 17-year-old has been first choice for Kevin O’Connor’s B Team this season, making 19 appearances, and was named on the bench for The Bees’ Sky Bet Championship game against Fulham in November.

First up for Neil Dewsnip’s side are Saudi Arabia on Wednesday 22 March before they play their opening game against Qatar two days later. The Young Lions finish off their trip with another match against the hosts on Monday 27 March.

Ellery is one of a trio of EFL based goalkeepers named in the England squad alongside Huddersfield Town’s Ryan Schofield and Jake Turner of Bolton Wanderers.
