Brentford B defender Edon Pruti has joined Sky Bet League Two side Hartlepool United on a permanent transfer.

The 20-year-old, who joined the Bees in the summer of 2022, made 14 appearances during his time with the club, and he scored his first goal in his final appearance for the side against Peterborough United in December last year in the Premier League Cup.

Edon came through the ranks at Burnley before stepping into non-league football with Hanwell Town. He impressed at the Powerday Stadium before making the move to National League South side Slough Town. In the 2021/22 campaign Edon helped Slough to a 13th place finish in the league as they collected 49 points from their 40 matches.

He joins a Hartlepool side who are 23rd in League Two having picked up 19 points from their 24 games. Their last league match saw them draw 3-3 at home against Harrogate Town and they will face Gillingham away from home in their next fixture on Saturday.

Discussing the chance for Edon to continue his career in the Football League, Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane said: “Edon has been in and around the building here over the past year or so. He joined us at the start of this season and we’ve had discussions with him to get him into a Football League club. We have to remember that not every single player will get through to the first team at Brentford, and what we have here is a situation where he has been able to secure himself a move to the Football League in this window.

“We hope that he can go on and have a career with real longevity. He is an amazing character; he's been brilliant for the culture and the group and he has a lot of good attributes to go and do well in the league. I think it’s a very good move for him. We look at every player individually and we feel that the opportunity for Edon to go to Hartlepool can really help him to kick on.”
