Central defender Tony Craig will be suspended for three matches after the Football Association rejected an appeal against the red card he was given during Brentford’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United on Tuesday.

The Bees were 1-0 up when Tony was dismissed by referee Keith Stroud, on the advice of assistant Alan Young, for an off the ball incident seen by almost no-one else.

Brentford put in an appeal that the red card should not have stood for the suspension to be removed.

The Club submitted the video evidence taken by the Club’s match analysts but the FA have deemed there was insufficient evidence to overturn the dismissal and therefore an offence of violent conduct was committed.

Tony will miss Brentford’s games away to Hartlepool United and at home to Doncaster Rovers.

The third game of his suspension will either be the first game of the 2013/14 season or a Play-Off Semi-Final First Leg after the Doncaster match.
