At an FA Independent Regulatory Hearing yesterday, Thursday 20 October, a charge of using abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official against Brentford midfield player Alan McCormack in a match against Cardiff City on 19 April was found proven. This was judged as an aggravated breach as it included a reference to gender and Alan was given a five-match suspension – which starts immediately – as well as a £6,000 fine and a warning as to his future conduct. He was also ordered to attend an education course.

Brentford Football Club acknowledges the FA's decision and disciplinary sanctions against Alan. We are awaiting the written reasons for the verdict and neither the player nor the Club will make any further comment on this matter until they have been received.
