Chris Mepham made his full international debut as Wales travelled to the Rose Bowl in California for a game against Mexico. On just his second appearance for his nation, Chris' performance in the 0-0 draw saw him earn rave reviews especially as he played the majority of it without his experienced defensive partner Ashley Williams, who went off injured in the first-half.

Mexico, who will be in Group F alongside Germany, South Korea, and Sweden in Russia, had the better of the game but couldn't find a way through Chris and the rest of the Welsh defence in Pasadena. Ryan Giggs' side will now return home following their week-long camp in the United States ahead of the UEFA Nations League which begins in September.

Meanwhile, Alan Judge earned his third cap for the Republic of Ireland after coming on as a late substitute in a 2-0 defeat to France in Paris. In conditions perhaps more in keeping with the Emerald Isle, Les Bleus netted through Olivier Giroud and Nabil Fekir on the stroke of half-time to decide the game at a sodden Stade De France.

Alan came on with 20 minutes to play for Shane Long while fellow Bee John Egan, who featured for an Ireland XI against Celtic last weekend, was an unused substitute. The Boys in Green have one further game this summer as they host the USA in Dublin this coming Saturday, kick-off 8pm.
