Canice Carroll has joined Brentford B from Oxford United for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old defender put pen to paper on a two-year deal today, Thursday 9 August, which includes the option for an extra year.

A Republic of Ireland youth international, Carroll made 12 senior appearances for Oxford during his time with The U's. His professional debut came during an FA Cup Second around tie with Macclesfield Town in December 2016.

Almost exactly a year later, he scored his first goal for the Club in a 3-2 League One defeat to Bradford City. Ricardinho sent in a corner, which Carroll nodded home while Brentford loanee Tom Field watched on.

A product of the United academy, Carroll was also selected as part of the match squad for the 2017 EFL Trophy Final. United lost 2-1 to Coventry City in front of 74,400 fans at Wembley Stadium.

B Team Head Coach Kevin O'Connor said: "Canice brings experience and quality to the team. He's a player with natural ability and we think he possesses skills that we can help take to the next level. We look forward to working with him and seeing what he can bring to our side."
