Brian Riemer has joined Brentford FC as Assistant Head Coach. The 40-year-old will act as an assistant to Thomas Frank, who took over as Brentford Head Coach last week. He joins The Bees from FC Copenhagen, where he has been Head Coach of the Under-19 group. Brian has also worked with the First Team during a long association with the 12-time Danish champions.

Brian has been in charge of the Under-19 side at Copenhagen since the summer of 2015. He spent the three years before that as Assistant Manager at the club, having worked in the youth department since 2008. He had previously worked in the same youth development position at Hvidovre IF.

While Assistant Manager at Copenhagen, Brian worked alongside Ariël Jacobs and then former Norway boss Ståle Solbakken. Copenhagen won the Danish title in the 2012/13 under Jacobs, Brian’s first season in the role. They finished second in his two other seasons in the position and Brian was also involved as they played in the UEFA Champions League in 2013/14. Brian starts at Brentford today, Friday 26 October, and will be in the dugout for the Sky Bet Championship game at Norwich City tomorrow.

Thomas Frank said: “Brian is a very experienced coach, with three-and-a-half years as Assistant Manager at FC Copenhagen under his belt. He has won championships, and experienced both Champions League and Europa League football.

“He comes from an environment where winning is the expectation, and we are looking forward to him bringing this mindset to Griffin Park. For the past ten years he has dedicated himself to coaching and developing players, and we look forward to having him bring the same energy, experience and drive to the setup here at Brentford.”

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, added: “I would like to welcome Brian to Brentford FC. Our aim is to build the strongest possible team around Thomas, and with the appointment of Brian we believe we have found someone who fits the profile we have been looking for. We are still looking to appoint another Assistant Head Coach and are continuing to interview candidates over the coming weeks.”
