Brentford have signed Spanish youth international attacker Sergi Canos on loan from Liverpool. The 18-year-old completed a half-season loan move today, Monday 31 August, and will train with The Bees for the first time tomorrow. He will remain at Griffin Park until 3 January 2016.

Sergi has been at Liverpool for two years and came through Barcelona’s youth academy. He can play in a variety of attacking positions, either wide or through the middle and signed professional forms last summer when still 17. He made his debut for Liverpool’s Under-21 side when still eligible for the Youth Team.

Sergi played for Spain at Under-17 level, making six competitive appearances and scoring two goals. He has played in both Liverpool’s Under-21 Premier League games this season, scoring in the Merseyside derby draw with Everton.

Marinus Dijkhuizen, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “I am pleased we have been able to bring Sergi in to the Club. He is very good technically and is a quick attacking player. He gives us an extra option on the wings.

“He is young and talented and we will be able to help his continued development by giving him a chance to train and play at Championship level.”

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, added: "The loan signings the Club has made in recent seasons have been very important in getting us to where we are today. It is a key part of our strategy to continue to maintain strong relationships with other clubs and for them to trust us to play a positive role in the ongoing development of their best young players.

“I'm therefore delighted that we've managed to persuade Sergi to join us until January and we look forward to working with him in the coming months. I’d like to thank the staff at Liverpool for their help in making this move happen.”
