Brentford has completed the signing of free agent Vonnte Williams on a one-year contract, with a 12-month club option.

Williams signs after a five-week trial period where he impressed and featured in all of Brentford B's pre-season fixtures.

The 19-year-old defender was a regular feature in the B team's pre-season preparations which involved matches against Chelsea Under-21s and Hanwell Town.

Williams was previously at Crystal Palace and was at the south London club from under-9s through to the under-21s.

He was a second-half substitute in Darren Powell's Crystal Palace Under-21s International Premier League Cup triumph over PSV in the final.

B-team head coach Neil MacFarlane said: "I commend Vonnte's mentality more than anything as he has shown great levels of concentration and growth throughout his trial period.

"He has slowly built his fitness, playing a lot of minutes in our pre-season games and performing consistently well in those games.

"He will add competition within the group and he is very dynamic as a left-back as he has shown his ability to defend but also go forward and be a contributor to the attack.

"I am looking forward to working with him."
