Brentford B have confirmed the signing of New York Red Bulls' goalkeeper Aidan Stokes on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance.

The 18-year-old has represented New York Red Bulls II in MLS Next Pro, having progressed through the Red Bulls Academy from Under-15 to Under-17 level.

Stokes then signed his first professional contract in 2023, before going on to make 51 appearances for the Baby Bulls.

Brentford B head coach Sam Saunders said: “Aidan caught our eye at the Under-17s World Cup last year. He is a good shot-stopper and his ability with his feet suits our style of play.

“We have heard lots of good things about his character and winning mentality. He will complete our goalkeeping group for this season and we are looking forward to adding him to our squad.

“We’re excited to welcome him and looking forward, with Jani Viander and Manu Sotelo, to help with his development, given our history of improving young goalkeepers.”

Stokes made his debut for New York Red Bulls II in March 2024, starting a 5-1 win over Hudson Valley Hammers in the first round of the U.S. Open Cup.

The goalkeeper is eligible to represent the United States, England and Wales. He featured for USA Under-15s in March 2023, before switching allegiance to represent Wales at the Victory Shield in November of that year, making two appearances for the U16s.

On the loan move Stokes said: “Joining Brentford is something I am so excited about. I am looking to be the best team-mate possible and make everyone around me better, whilst integrating as quickly as possible.”
