Brentford B midfield player Ryan Trevitt has been named the winner of the 2022/23 Mary Halder Award following an excellent campaign for our young Bees.

Ryan, who joined the B team midway through the 2020/21 season from Leatherhead, has established himself as one of the side’s key players over the course of the season having gone on to play 27 times and score 16 goals for the team. He has also made nine assists this season for the young Bees.

The Mary Halder Award is given to a B team player each season and recognises a campaign of progression, fantastic attitude and professionalism whilst adhering to the values that we hold close to us as a club. Ryan follows in the footsteps of former B team players Dom Jefferies, Fin Stevens, Nathan Shepperd, Ali Coote, Marcus Forss and Chris Mepham who have all won the trophy in previous years.

Ryan was presented the award by Caroline Halder and Leanne Halder Higgins

Ryan has had a stunning season on the pitch in a campaign where he made his first team debut in the Carabao Cup against Colchester United back in August 2022 before he got his first taste of Emirates FA Cup action against West Ham United in January 2023. Whilst getting regular training minutes with the first team and joining them on the mid-season trip to Spain in December during the World Cup break, Ryan has been a key player for the B team and has produced some excellent performances.

He netted in the final of the Premier League Cup on 9 May to help the B team to lift the trophy with a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at the Gtech Community Stadium, whilst he has also netted goals against well-established youth sides from across Europe such as Jong PSV and Monaco Under-21s.

After arriving in West London for a trial period in late 2020, Ryan put pen to paper with the B team in January 2021 where he steadily progressed to become a key creative player for the side. He extended his stay with the Bees in the summer of 2022 following a positive end to the 2021/22 season before he returned to spend much of pre-season with Thomas Frank’s side ahead of this campaign.

The youngster will now be aiming to round off his excellent campaign with the B team as they host Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad on 19 May in the Robert Rowan Invitational. Tickets can be purchased now for that fixture by clicking here.
