There are two games to look forward to this weekend for our young Bees as they continue their pre-season schedule with matches against Hanwell Town and Leatherhead. Both kick-off at 3pm on Saturday 29 July.

Neil MacFarlane’s B team will head to Hanwell whilst Lydia Bedford will take a young Bees side to Fetcham Grove to face Leatherhead.

Bees travel to Powerday Stadium

The B team are well acquainted with the Powerday Stadium having played there numerous times in recent seasons against Hanwell, as well as against other opponents. They’ll face Chris Moore’s side as they continue to build on fitness and match sharpness in their pre-season campaign, which sees them then head to Chelsea on Tuesday.

Tickets are available to be purchased online now or you can pay upon arrival at the gate.

The B team were last in action at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre on 21 July as they drew 0-0 with AFC Wimbledon. Despite creating a host of chances they were unable to break the deadlock against the Sky Bet League Two side.

Hanwell have been in pre-season action in recent weeks, which included a 7-0 win over a Wycombe Wanderers XI. They also went on to beat Ascot United 3-1 on 25 July. They are building up to their league campaign in the Southern League Premier South when they host Chesham United on 5 August.

Bedford to take side to Leatherhead

Simultaneously, a mix of B team and under-18 players will head to Fetcham Grove to face Leatherhead.

The under-18 group recently spent a couple of days away in the East Midlands, developing their teamwork skills, as well as mental and physical resilience in a military camp at Kendrew Barracks. Recent weeks have also seen them play teams like Portsmouth in pre-season, as well as some behind closed doors action as they prepare for their South East Youth Alliance opener on 5 August against Sutton United away from home.

Leatherhead have also been in pre-season action recently and they’re on a winning run of late having beaten Maidstone United, Three Bridges, Lewes and Carshalton Athletic as they prepare for the start of the Isthmian South Central campaign with a match against Southall on 12 August.

Under-18s make new addition

Our under-18 side have continued to build on their squad and have added another scholar to their ranks in the form of Trae Payet. The 16-year-old has been working within the youth set up at Norwich City and has signed a two-year scholarship. The youngster will be looking to get his first minutes for the Bees on Saturday.

Match coverage

We will have updates from the match at Hanwell as well as highlights and reaction, as well as a report of how the young Bees fared at Leatherhead.
