Brentford U21s got their groove back as they secured a 4-0 victory against Watford U21s at Wheatsheaf Park in the Professional Development League on Saturday afternoon.
A stunning strike from Yunus Emre Konak, a brace from Myles Peart-Harris, and a header from Josh Stephenson sealed all three points for the team. Benjamin Arthur, Paris Maghoma, and Matthew Cox also featured to round out the first-team involvement.
After conceding a late equaliser earlier in the week against Charlton Athletic, the young Bees were determined to respond and get back to winning ways.
The west Londoners began the quicker of the two sides, settling into a high-tempoed pattern of possession as they often do.
Chances were few and far between in the opening half of the game as neither side tested the goalkeepers.
It remained a closely fought contest, and two minutes before the end of the first-half, Ollie Shield came agonisingly close to opening the scoring. His curling effort looked destined for the corner, but an unfortunate deflection off Ethan Laidlaw diverted the ball wide.
There was still time for Zavier Massiah-Edwards to curl a shot onto the crossbar as the away side had their first real chance of the game too.
The second-half saw the young Bees step up the tempo and they were rewarded as a fine set-piece saw Peart-Harris head a delivery into the direction of Stephenson who had the easy job of nodding into the net.
Saunders' side were electric following the opener and his team were firmly on top of the contest.
On 52 minutes, the second goal arrived as Morgan found Peart-Harris who powered towards goal and finished expertly.
A minute later, the west Londoners scored their third and it was Peart-Harris who grabbed his second as he was found in the box by Laidlaw.
On 65 minutes, Konak got in on the action as he picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and struck a powerful left-footed shot which went in off the post.
The Bees saw out the rest of the game as they cruised to victory.
The result means that the Bees climb above the Hornets in the table.
Saunders' side are next in action on Friday 14 November as they take on Bournemouth at Wheatsheaf Park.
