Brentford suffered a 4-0 reverse at the hands of a strong CA Osasuna squad at Griffin Park on Tuesday night.

With the scores level at the break, the Spanish side made 11 replacements and promptly put four goals past a Brentford team for their first pre-season reverse.

Manager Mark Warburton made ten changes from the side that beat OGC Nice, Andre Gray the lone survivor.

Skipper Kevin O’Connor appeared at left back, with a centre back pairing of Dean and Calvet.

The front three of Dallas, Moore and Gray started brightly but as the game wore on, could not force their way past a solid Osasuna back line.

The striker created the first real chance of the match in the 17th minute, the ex-Luton Town man’s cross from the right hand side that Dallas connected with; with the Irishman’s shot going narrowly over the bar.

Four minutes later Jake Reeves was the provider for Toumani Diagouraga, but he shot over the bar from 25 yards

The visitors hit back in the 22rd minute – Berenguer shot wide of Richard Lee’s left hand post

Midway through the half Montell Moore, who got his first start in a Brentford shirt, delivered a ball from the right, Gray fooled the defence to force a save from Santamaria.

The 18-year-old was full of running on the night and received a generous applause from the crowd when he departed after almost 70 minutes play.

Berenguer’s shot in the 32nd minute was well saved by Richard Lee.

Two minutes before the break, Harlee Dean did well to block Torres’s goalbound shot after an error from Tebar.

Brentford made one change at half time, Adam Forshaw replacing Tebar, with Osasuna replacing their entire team.

Three minutes into the second half, Cejudo’s corner was headed against post by Oier.

Alan McCormack’s right foot shot in the 53rd minute beat goalkeeper Riesgo but the ball travelled wide.

It was to prove a costly miss as Manu Onwu scored thirty seconds later to put Osasuna ahead.

Later on Andre Gray appeared to be held back but referee Gavin Ward waved claims away.

Onwu added a second goal on 57 minutes, which ended the game as a contest.

Two goals from Nino (76) and a superb finish from David Garcia (89) ensured the game finished on a scoreline thought unlikely just 45 minutes ealier.
