Brentford have this morning completed a double loan signing, adding a defender and a striker to the squad.

The Bees have brought in Northern Ireland international defender Lee Hodson from Watford and Italian Under-19 international striker Marcello Trotta from Fulham.

Both have agreed deals to stay at Griffin Park through the busy Christmas and New Year period.

They will both initially be with The Bees until January 13 and will train this morning with Uwe Rösler’s squad ahead of the clash against fellow promotion-chasers Sheffield United on Saturday.

Marcello will also be available for Brentford’s games in the FA Cup with Budweiser during his time at Griffin Park while both players can play in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Sporting Director, said: “Marcello is a player we have admired for a long period.

“He had a very successful loan period at Wycombe Wanderers and has been very near to joining several Championship clubs over the last few weeks.

“We are delighted to welcome him to Griffin Park and look forward to what we hope will be a very beneficial loan spell for all parties.

“Lee has made almost 100 appearances for Watford in The Championship and has established himself as a regular full International with Northern Ireland.

“I have known and worked with Lee for a number of years and it has been a pleasure watching him develop into a highly talented full back with an outstanding attitude both on and off the pitch.

“We are delighted to welcome Lee to Brentford.”

Lee came through the youth ranks at Watford and played in The Championship before he had turned 18.

The 21-year-old has featured at both right back and left back for The Hornets since his debut in 2009 and had won nine caps for Northern Ireland.

He has also represented Northern Ireland at Under-21, Under-19 and Under-17 level.

He will wear squad number 18.

Marcello joined Fulham as a 16-year-old in 2009 having been on the books of Napoli and Manchester City as a youngster.

The 20-year-old turned professional in the summer of 2011 and joined Wycombe on loan last November.

He scored eight goals in eight games for The Chairboys and earned a Fulham debut after returning to Craven Cottage.

Marcello, who has also been on loan at Watford, has made three substitute appearances for Fulham and has been involved in The Cottagers’ Premier League squad this season.

He will wear squad number 11.

Both Lee and Marcello spoke to Bees Player after completing their moves – video interviews will be available shortly.
