Cliff Crown has been appointed as the new Chairman of Brentford Football Club.

Cliff replaces Greg Dyke, who had held the job since the start of 2006.

Greg had to stand down from his position as Brentford Chairman and give up his place on the Board of Directors at the end of the 2012/13 season after he was appointed as Independent FA Chairman.

Cliff, who acts as Chief Financial Officer and business adviser to a number of companies in which Club owner Matthew Benham has a financial interest, was appointed as a Club Director in July 2012.

He is a chartered accountant with more than 30 years’ experience in advising commercial owner managed businesses.

Despite all this he considers himself first and foremost a football fan.

He has now taken on the role of non-executive Chairman.

Cliff said: “I am honoured to have been appointed chairman of Brentford and look forward to working with the Board and the Management Team to build on the progress made over the last two years and to deliver a successful future for the Club and its fans.

“I hope to continue the great work of Greg Dyke, who played such an important role in getting the Club to where it is now.”

The Club has also appointed two Vice-Chairmen – Donald Kerr and Eddie Rogers.

Donald has represented Bees United on the Club’s Board of Directors for more than four years.

Eddie has been on the Board as an investor director for more than 12 years and served as Chairman from April 2003 to January 2006.

Mark Devlin, Brentford FC Chief Executive, said: “I would like to welcome Cliff to his new role.

“Cliff has been an important member of the Board since he was appointed nine months ago and made a valuable contribution in a short space of time."

“I look forward to continuing to work closely with Cliff as the Club moves forward.”

The Club’s Board now comprises Cliff Crown (Chairman), Donald Kerr (Vice-Chairman), Eddie Rogers (Vice-Chairman), Alan Bird, David Heath, John Herting, David Merritt and Phil Whall.

More from new Chairman Cliff Crown will be on www.brentfordfc.co.uk and Bees Player soon.
