Brentford’s England youth international goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe has been recalled from a loan spell at Boreham Wood. The teenager, who turned 19 last week, joined the Vanarama National League side on a youth loan in August and was due to remain with the Hertfordshire side until January. But that switch has now been cut short and Ellery is back with The Bees.

Ellery picked up a knee injury while on international duty with England Under-20 at the start of the month. That meant he was unavailable for two matches for his country and would not be able to play for Boreham Wood while he is recovering. Ellery returns to Brentford having played eight National League games for the Hertfordshire side.

Ellery signed a new four-year contract with Brentford at the end of June after coming through the ranks at Griffin Park. The stopper was part of the original Brentford B squad in 2016 and has gone on to make 55 appearances for the B Team. He made his England Under-20 debut when he was just 17 and has played 14 games for his country in total at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 level.
