Brentford Development Squad central defender Alfie Mawson has joined Sky Bet League Two Wycombe Wanderers on loan.
The 20-year-old has signed a Youth Loan to remain with the Buckinghamshire side until September 7.
Alfie signed his second professional contract – a one-year deal – in the close season.
He had previously signed a two-year Development Squad contract in the summer of 2012 after completing his scholarship.
In an injury-hit 2012/13 season, Alfie played 11 games for The Bees in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South.
Alfie played 12 Under-21 league games in 2013/14, scoring three times, and made his First Team debut in the Capital One Cup defeat against Derby County in August.
He also had spells out on loan at Maidenhead United, Luton Town and Welling United.
He is set to make his Football League debut while at Wycombe and will link up with former Development Squad colleague Aaron Pierre, who played alongside Alfie in the centre of defence at Under-21 level and joined Wanderers on a permanent basis in the summer after a successful loan deal.
Ose Aibangee, Brentford FC Academy Director, said: “Alfie made his First Team debut last year and has made excellent progress since he joined us as a 16-year-old after leaving Reading.
“He picked up an injury at the end of last season but has recovered well from that and had a good pre-season.
“He has played a lot of non-league and Under-21 football over the past two seasons and he now needs to get Football League experience.
“Wycombe are a good club that give young players a chance and Alfie will learn a lot from his time there.
“He can also resume his defensive partnership with Aaron Pierre that served us so well.
“He can continue his development and we can watch how he does over the next month.”
