Brentford Under-18s secured their second-straight U18 Premier League win on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 triumph over Ipswich Town Under-18s at Wheatsheaf Park.

Nathaniel Ogungbemi got the young Bees off to a flyer inside 10 minutes with a goal, Coran Madden and Jai Bansoodeb adding a goal each late in the game to secure all three points.

In beautiful football conditions in west London Gary McDermott's side started promisingly and looked to score inside the opening minute of the game. Jovan Kasujja broke forward on the counterattack and made his way into the Ipswich box, but put his left-footed shot across the face of goal.

On six minutes Ogungbemi received the ball under pressure near the halfway line but escaped before playing the ball to Kasujja. The forward found Bansoodeb near the edge of the Ipswich box, who rewarded Ogungbemi’s continuous run by playing him through, the left-back finding the back of the net with a neat finish.

The west Londoners continued to impress. On 17 minutes Bansoodeb found space through the middle of the pitch before playing to Madden down the left side. The winger pushed into the Ipswich box before crossing central, but the play was interrupted by the visitors’ defence.

Madden was proving a hassle for Ipswich down the left side and was at it again on 21 minutes. Finding himself one-vs-one, the winger went at his defender inside the visitors’ box, however put his left-foot strike into the side netting.

Down the other end the young Tractor Boys looked to equalise as a well-placed cross was sent from the right side into the box, but the danger was dealt with by Brentford captain Micaiah Fanoiki.

As half-time approached Bansoodeb found Dwayne Mason breaking through the space and into the right side of Ipswich’s box, but his shot was saved by Edward Twyman in goal for the visitors.

The Tractor Boys’ best first-half chance came on 40 minutes as Praise Adebayo played the ball to Christopher Atherton in space on the left side of the Brentford box. The winger opened his body and looked to curl his shot into the top right corner, but his effort sailed high over the bar.

Ethan Balogun and Andrew Noni provided fresh legs for the Bees out of the half-time break and while both teams looked to attack, chances on target were few and far between for both sides.

Bansoodeb almost made something out of nothing on 64 minutes as the ball bounced around deep inside Ipswich’s box. The midfielder managed to take control of the ball and flick it backwards, allowing him a shot on target, but it was well kept out by Twyman.

One minute later the visitors broke forward on the counterattack, Mustaan Olakazim finding himself one-on-one with Brentford goalkeeper Felix Lyon, but he put his shot right of the goal.

With 10 minutes to play McDermott’s side looked to put the game to bed as Bansoodeb found space down the right side. He curled a beautifully placed ball into the Ipswich box to Kasujja, but the forward’s header glanced across the goal and out of play.

Soon after in Brentford’s half Ipswich pounced on a loose Bees’ pass, Jayden Adetiba taking a touch to his right inside the hosts’ box before firing at goal, his effort kept out by Lyon diving to his left.

As the 90-minute mark came the Bees broke out on the counterattack, Kasujja finding space down the right side. He played the ball centrally to Madden, the winger taking his time as he played the ball to his right before curling it home to double the advantage.

Two minutes later Bansoodeb found some reward for his effort as he was played through by Noni. The midfielder took a touch to his right, before a touch to his left and then back to his right before chipping Twyman for Brentford’s third, securing all three points.
