Brentford Under-18s fought out a tough 2-2 draw with Getafe Under-19s in their final game in Spain.
Goals for Brandon Annous and a trialist helped the young Bees gain the lead twice at La Liga Centre, however the home side were able to respond with an equaliser each time.
Head coach Lydia Bedford bought in an entirely new starting line-up for the clash and was rewarded with a strong start to the game from her players.
The young Bees struck immediately, Annous firing a powerful strike into the top-left corner to make it 1-0.
Getafe were quick to respond, their right winger dribbling past multiple Brentford defenders and finding the back of the net to make it 1-1.
Both sides enjoyed time in possession across the middle stages of the half and some promising attacking moves, however both teams defended strongly to keep the game even.
Brentford found a second goal on 25 minutes, some slick passing between Kaya Halil and Freddie Taylor freeing the latter up down the right side, his cross finding a trialist in the box who headed it home.
Bedford’s side nearly found a third goal as 30 minutes approached, Emeka Peters and Annous both having shots saved by a diving Getafe keeper.
Coming out of the break Brentford controlled possession, Getafe unable to gain any control while on the ball.
The home side managed to find an equaliser on 55 minutes against the run of play, however, making it 2-2.
The young Bees were not deterred, continuing to control possession across the middle stages of the second half.
Andre Grey, Ollie Shield, Omaru King, Trae Payet and three trialists provided some fresh legs for the visitors as they pushed for a winner. Grey's return to the pitch was a welcomed one after time spent on the sideline due to injury.
Neither side was able to penetrate and get shots on target as full-time approached. That was until added time when Evan Anderson made a great save for the young Bees to keep the draw intact.
