Andre Gray said Brentford’s players were left frustrated by their Sky Bet Championship defeat to AFC Bournemouth.
The Bees were beaten 1-0 on the south coast yesterday afternoon.
The home side scored the only goal inside the last 20 minutes when Junior Stanislas converted a Ryan Fraser cross.
Andre said Brentford played well and had enough chances to win.
He added the feeling in the dressing room was that The Bees deserved at least a draw.
“Everyone is really frustrated but we are trying to take the positives from it,” said Andre, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“It was a good team performance and we had a lot of chances.
“We didn’t deserve to lose the game and, if anything, we deserved to win it.
“We probably lost because we missed chances and lacked a little bit of quality.
“But we are still learning how to play with each other.
“We also saw the difference in The Championship with chances being taken and missed.”
Andre came close to scoring six minutes in.
A short free kick was worked cleverly in to the penalty area; he turned and smashed a shot against the crossbar from eight yards.
The striker had other openings and said he felt his first Championship goal was coming.
“I thought it would creep in,” said Andre, discussing his big chance.
“But it kept rising unfortunately and didn’t hit the right part of the crossbar, it came back out.
“I had another chance when I could have done better but I feel I am getting closer.
“I have made a massive step up and I feel I am threatening.
“I have made a big step and am still getting chances.
“Hopefully I can improve in terms of quality and it will go in the net.”
Andre said Brentford would analyse the goal they conceded this week but the mood was overwhelmingly positive overall.
“We will look back at the goal in the week,” he said.
“Everyone in the changing room is positive about what happened today.
“You can’t always take positives from a defeat, we can today.
“We have come to a team that will be fighting for the Play-Offs.
“The fans will see it like we did.
“We created chances and had a lot of the ball; we didn’t look out of place.
“You can tell they are solid and organised and that is why they are doing well.
“We have to look at how well we have gelled in a short time, and that we have a lot of young players.
“The difference in experience told at times but we have matched them and deserved something.”
Brentford’s next match is away to Blackpool on Tuesday, August 19.
Andre said Brentford would head to the north west coast and look to impose themselves on the game.
“Any player that doesn’t get a positive result, wants to put it right as soon as possible,” he said.
“It will be good to go to Blackpool on Tuesday and look to get three points.
“We approach every match in the same way.
“We don’t change the way we play, we try to be positive and attack.
“Hopefully it will pay dividends on Tuesday.
“The fans were great today and they need to stick with us.
“There will be times when it gets tough for us; they will be our 12th man.”
