Brentford's A team suffered their worst defeat for two years as Peterborough United ‘A’ ran riot at The Score Centre, East London, yesterday. A shocking start from the Futsal Bees saw them 1-0 down in the first minute and two down less than 60 seconds later. The Bees looked a shadow of themselves compared to their recent form but, despite the poor performance, the Peterborough keeper was forced to make four excellent saves.
The half time message was to stay in the game but Brentford, lacking any cohesiveness, conceded two further goals. Any hope of a comeback disappeared when a well worked free kick from the Bees was blasted over from three metres out with the goal open. Brentford resorted to the ‘fly-keeper’ but, despite enjoying a lot of possession, could not get past the Posh defence. Three more goals followed for Posh before The Bees conceded a ten metre penalty which as converted to make it 8-0.
Alfie Hipwell's consolation goal for the Bees with a second to go did little to raise the mood. Next up is a match against Southend United with a point guaranteeing qualification to the Play-Offs for the Futsal Bees.
The ‘B’ team were awarded a 5-0 walkover against Peterborough ‘B’ who were unable to field a team. This puts them effectively one win away from securing their place in the end of season League 2 play-offs
