Conor McAleny said he was more concerned with Brentford winning their pre-season friendly against Cardiff City than scoring twice on his first appearance in red and white.
The striker, on loan from Everton, scored twice from the left side as Brentford came from 2-0 down to beat Cardiff 3-2 at Griffin Park.
The newly-promoted Premier League side started well and probably deserved to be 2-0 up inside the first quarter.
But Brentford changed from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 system and came back in to the game, Conor scored just before half time and equalised just after.
Paul Hayes scored the winner late on.
“It was not a bad way to start for me but it is all about the win,” said Conor, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“We played Premier League opposition and got the win.
“Cardiff passed it around and moved us about.
“We had spells as well and we did well overall.
“They came at us at the start but once we settled we passed it as well as them.”
Conor said he likes to play on the left side, either of a front three as he did at the start or a midfield four like he did later on, and come inside.
He said he just aimed to pass the ball in to the net when he got his chances and tried to be composed.
“I like to come inside on my right foot,” said Conor.
“I can mix it up as well and go outside.
“I just tried to pass it in the corner; I treated it like there was a man on the post and passed it to him.
“Every striker has to be calm in front of goal, be composed and put them away.
“It’s always good to get a goal before half time.
“We were right back in the game.
“As soon as we equalised the crowd pushed us on and we won it at the end.”
Conor arrived from Everton last week and will remain at Griffin Park until at least January.
He joined Adam Forshaw and Jake Bidwell, who had also come on loan from Everton and now signed for Brentford permanently.
Conor said he had settled in well, helped by knowing his two former team-mates, and was looking forward to the start of the Sky Bet League One season against Port Vale on Saturday.
“I think I have settled well,” he said.
“The lads have been great.
“I can’t wait for the season to start.
“I am looking forward to it.”
