Alan joined The Bees in the summer of 2013, leaving Swindon Town when his contract with the Wiltshire club came to an end. He was part of the Swindon team which won League Two and reached the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final in 2011/12 – earning the Player of the Season accolade – and captained them for most of the following year when they reached the League One Play-Offs, losing to Brentford. The former Preston North End, Southend United and Charlton Athletic man – who can also play in defence – then joined The Bees.
Alan was voted Brentford Supporters’ Player of the Year for 2013/14 after playing 45 games in all competitions at The Bees won promotion from League One and then played 19 times in the Sky Bet Championship in 2014/15. Alan then made 29 appearances last season, triggering an extension to his contract. Injuries have limited Alan’s availability this season and he has made 11 appearances in all competitions.
