Alan McCormack said Brentford would look to move on from their Sky Bet League One defeat to Rotherham United.
The Bees were beaten 3-0 in Yorkshire on Tuesday night with Kieran Agard scoring twice for the hosts and Haris Vuckic grabbing the third.
Alan, speaking to Bees Player: Match Day Live after the game, said the players were disappointed with the loss and knew they had not performed.
He said they would now look to put it behind them by getting three points in the next game, away to Oldham Athletic on Saturday, March 29.
“Everybody is disappointed, we all know we didn’t perform, from back to front.
“We went in with the right intentions but they pressed high, got the ball forward as quickly as they could, picked up the seconds and played.
“They out-battled us, out-passed us and created more chances.
“We were sloppy in the final third.
“We were too safe at times.
“We will try and move forward and look to get three points on Saturday.
“They maintain their fitness well and we knew they would continue for 90 minutes.
“We knew their game plan, albeit they probably played more than we thought.
“We need to win our headers, keep the ball better, full-backs need to be better on the ball and put crosses in, strikers need to hold it up better.
“We need to be better all over the pitch.
“It didn’t happen for us tonight, it is not that we didn’t try, nothing went right.
“We had a couple of spells where we dominated, but not for long periods.”
Alan said the defeat “hurt” Brentford’s players.
“We tried to be better in the second half, that was the half time team talk,” he said.
“They stopped us from doing it, all credit to them.
“There are a lot of hurt men.
“Everyone is disappointed.
“You can’t win and perform unbelievably every game, although we give it a good go.
“The lads are hurting and it will be a long trip back.”
Despite the defeat Brentford are still second in Sky Bet League One.
They are three points ahead of Leyton Orient with two games in hand.
“The best thing to take out of it is results elsewhere,” said Alan.
“If we can get a cushion in second that will take the pressure off.
“We have games in hand but we’d rather have the points.
“We knew we can get six points and are still on course to reach our target.”
