Alan Judge said he thinks Brentford’s Sky Bet Championship match against Brighton and Hove Albion will be “a good spectacle”.
The Bees welcome Brighton to Griffin Park tomorrow, Saturday September 13, for a match that will kick off at 3pm.
The fixture comes after a two-week international break that has seen no Championship fixtures played.
It leads in to a month which will see Brentford also face Norwich City and Leeds United at Griffin Park and travel to Middlesbrough and Watford.
Alan said the first challenge, against Brighton, will be one against a good passing team that narrowly missed out on promotion last season.
“It will be a good game of football,” said the attacking midfield player, speaking to Bees Player yesterday.
“They are a good passing team.
“We know how good they are, they were unlucky in the Play-Offs last year.
“It will be a good spectacle and the better football team will win.
“Hopefully we get a win.
“This will be a tough month.
“We will be facing teams that have been in and around the top of the Championship.
“Watford are a good team, Leeds are a massive club and Norwich have just come down and Brighton were so close last year.”
Brentford have taken eight points from five Championship games so far, losing just once.
Alan said the Brentford squad were enjoying the challenge after winning promotion from League One last season.
“It is really enjoyable,” said Alan.
“The crowds are bigger and we are playing in bigger stadiums.
“The lads have taken to it and are enjoying it.
“We have only played five games and you will only know where you will be after ten or 12.
“We have to keep doing what we are doing.”
Brentford’s players all had four days off over the international weekend.
Three players were called up for international duty.
Stuart Dallas had to return from the Northern Ireland squad with a quad injury but Alex Pritchard played twice for England Under-21 and Daniel O’Shaughnessy played twice for Finland Under-21.
“It has been a well needed rest,” said Alan.
“A lot of the lads have been looking forward to it.
“We have played a lot of games and the lads were feeling a bit tired.
“To go in off a win was good.
“It was good for the lads to go away with their country.
“It’s brilliant that some players get recognition in that way.
“You go and play on one of the biggest stages, it can only help them.”
Brentford’s last match was a trip to Rotherham United.
The Bees won 2-0 with goals coming from Andre Gray and Nick Proschwitz.
Alan said the role played by centre backs Harlee Dean and James Tarkowski in Yorkshire, keeping Rotherham striker Alex Revell quiet, was key to the win.
“It was a brilliant win,” he said.
“We went there last year and lost 3-0, they were better than us in every way on that day.
“They out battled us and played better football.
“We beat them at their own game up there.
“Their main thing is to go long and we nullified it and went from there.
“Harlee and James were brilliant.
“I haven’t come across many centre halves that can keep Revell quiet, they were brilliant.
“We have had two good results going in [after a draw with Birmingham City] and maybe you want to carry on but the break came at a good time.
“We have had a good rest to go in to Saturday.”
