Adam Forshaw said he was aiming to score more goals to help Brentford to promotion after notching in the pre-season friendly clash against Celtic.
Adam put The Bees in front against the Scottish Premier League Champions after exchanging passes with Paul Hayes.
Although Celtic came back to win, Adam came close to more goals with long range efforts that tested the visitors.
Speaking to Bees Player after the match, Adam said he wanted to improve on his goal tally from 2012/13 and had spoken to the Brentford coaching staff about shooting from distance.
“I spoke with the staff and I needed to take away from last season that I only scored three goals,” he said.
“I want a lot more so I can help the team get promotion.
“We practice a lot of shooting lately.
“I want to get in to the box more and get some shots off.
“One came off today.
“We spoke about shooting; we scored one or two from outside the box last year.
“We have good strikers of the ball; we need to put our practice in to a match situation.”
Adam said Brentford got what they wanted out of the match against The Bhoys.
The Bees had the better of most of it but were hit by two goals against the run of play.
Adam said he was pleased to get his first 90 minutes of the season under his belt and said there were lots of positives to take from the Celtic match and the pre-season so far.
“There was a really quick tempo out there, especially in the first half,” he said.
“I thought we passed the ball well and competed really well.
“We got what we needed out of it.
“It is always disappointing to lose, the manager wants to win and we have a group of players that hate to lose.
“But there were lots of positives.
“Personally, I was happy with 90 minutes and I can kick on.
“I haven’t played 90 yet so it was good to step it up.
“As a team we can take a lot of positives from our pre-season so far, both for fitness and performances.”
Adam played alongside George Saville and Alan McCormack in midfield while Jake Reeves, who played in the win over Millwall on Tuesday, was a substitute.
Jonathan Douglas and Toumani Diagouraga missed the match through injury while Kevin O’Connor, who has played in midfield in recent years, was used as a centre back.
“We have real strength in depth in the midfield,” said Adam.
“Competition for places can only be good.
“It brings out the best in people.
“You want to be better to stay in the team.
