Adam Forshaw said everyone connected with Brentford Football Club played a part as The Bees achieved promotion this season.
Brentford finished second in Sky Bet League One and will be playing Championship football next term.
After the final game of the season – a 2-0 win over Stevenage – The Bees were presented with medals and a trophy to mark that achievement.
Adam, who could not play against Stevenage after undergoing ankle surgery, said promotion was the aim and it was a nice moment to celebrate on the Griffin Park pitch.
He said everyone had a role to play.
“It is brilliant,” said the midfield man, speaking to Bees Player.
“To win promotion and get a medal was what we all wanted to achieve this year.
“Everyone at the Club – fans, staff, players, the families that have offered support – has been a part of it.
“It was a nice moment.
“Everyone played their part, it was a group thing.”
As well as winning promotion, Adam also had personal recognition in 2013/14.
He was named Sky Bet League One Player of the Year in March.
A prize voted for by the managers of League One clubs and handed out at the Football League Awards.
Adam, along with Jake Bidwell, was named in the Sky Bet League One PFA Team of the Year, announced late last month.
He was of the 11 players named as the best in their respective positions in League One by their fellow professionals.
“It was brilliant,” said Adam.
“To win those awards were massive, it will help me in my career.
“It is great for my confidence as well.
“But I wouldn’t win those awards without my team mates and the staff and my family.
“I am really appreciative for the help I have had this year.”
Last month Adam underwent arthroscopic surgery aimed at addressing an ankle issue that has been troubling him many months.
The issue arose from a trauma sustained to the ankle during Adam's teenage years with Everton, which has gradually developed and increasingly restricted him.
Adam has now started his rehabilitation and although he did not want to set a target for when he would return, he hoped to play in some of Brentford’s pre-season fixtures.
“I am doing well,” he said.
“I am healing well.
“I have been back in for a bit of rehab and hopefully I will be back for pre-season.
“I have not set targets.
“I will see how I am but all is going well and I hope to get a few games in pre-season.
“I will be in most of the summer getting myself right and my ankle right for next season.”
