Adam Forshaw said Brentford were capable of putting the “blip” of a defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers behind them and putting together another long unbeaten run.
The Bees were beaten 3-0 at Griffin Park yesterday afternoon by their fellow promotion-chasers.
It ended a 19 match unbeaten Sky Bet League One run that had seen The Bees take 51 points from 57 available.
Adam, speaking to Bees Player after the match, said it was not nice to lose but it was one game and it was important that Brentford reacted well.
He said the players were now looking ahead to the trip to Carlisle United next week.
“We have been on an unbelievable run,” said Adam.
“It is one loss in 20 games, albeit against a rival.
“A defeat is not nice but it is one game.
“We are looking forward to Carlisle.
“It is a blip.
“It is about how we react.
“We have lost to Wolves, they are rivals, but we are capable of going on another run until the end of the season.
“As far as I am concerned this is forgotten.
“We now have to go again and focus on Carlisle.”
Adam said Brentford’s players were disappointed with the defeat.
Wolves went ahead at the end of the first half when a cross from James Henry dropped in to the far corner.
As The Bees chased the game in the second Michael Jacobs scored a second on the break and then curled in a third from long range.
Adam said the first goal was a defining moment and Brentford were always likely to concede as they threw men forward to level it.
“We are disappointed,” he said.
“The 3-0 score line was not what we wanted.
“At 1-0, and I think they were lucky to be 1-0 up with the goal they scored, we were right in the game and on top, especially early in the second half.
“With the way we play, we aren’t going to lose games 1-0.
“We will go for it and either bring the game back or lose by a couple.
“The first half was nip and tuck.
“There wasn’t a lot of football being played and it was fiery.
“It was going to come down to a bit of luck.
“The lad didn’t mean to shoot, it was a cross.
“They got it and their tails were up.
“That sort of goal can be a defining moment.”
Adam said 3-0 was not a reflection of the game.
“At half time we had lots of belief,” he said.
“We were still in the game.
“They were 1-0 up but you couldn’t have called the game.
“We have players who can score goals, we believed we would score.
“We will always chase the game.
“We commit players forward and 3-0 was not a just reflection on the game.”
