Brentford Under-18s were defeated 5-2 by Manchester City in the Premier League Cup on Saturday morning.
Jovan Kasujja and Jai Bansoodeb found the net for the young Bees early on as they cruised into a two-goal lead at Jersey Road, but they were unable to take points from their Group D clash as the away side replied with five goals.
Brentford began the game in confident fashion as they controlled possession early on.
Kasujja had the game's first chance of the game, doing well to beat his man inside the box and strike a firm left-footed effort which drew a brilliant save from Ben Vickery.
Kasujja was not to be denied on his next chance as he cut in from the left side of the pitch and whipped in a great finish into the top corner.
Bansoodeb added to the lead as the young Bees scored a quick second goal; the young midfielder jinked his way into the box before curling in a shot which gave Vickery no chance.
The young Cityzens pulled a goal back through Dexter Oliver as the midfielder pounced on a loose ball before stroking the ball past Layton Nicholls
Josh Zetter-Plummer was then sent off in a turning point for the game as he was adjudged to have deliberately handled the ball in the box.
Teddie Lamb stepped up to take the penalty, but Nicholls made a brilliant save low to his right to push the ball away.
The away side's captain Marlow Barrett did, however, draw his team level on the stroke of the half-time whistle as he headed in from close range.
The second period began how the first ended and it was the away side who were dominant, taking advantage of their extra man and Lamb managed to get himself on the scoresheet, finishing off a well-worked team move.
A dangerous delivery from a corner for Manchester City saw Kasujja's attempted clearance go the wrong way as it flew past Nicholls into the net, giving Brentford's opponents their fourth.
Timeo Whisker added to the scoreline as he was found at the back post, turning the ball into the net after a perfect cross into the box.
That was how the game would end as Gary McDermott's side were beaten in the contest.
The west Londoners have now lost both their games in Group D, slimming their chances of making it through to the next stage as they play their final group-stage game against Southampton on Saturday 7 November.
