Pontus Jansson described our 2-0 win over Boreham Wood on Saturday afternoon as a 'good start' when he joined us for a debrief after the final whistle.
The captain played the first 45 minutes in the win at the LV Bet Stadium Meadow Park, describing the conditions in one word.
"Hot," he said, speaking to us pitchside. "It was a good start. We played with two different elevens and I think both did good. We kept a clean sheet in both halves, created a lot of chances and we approached the game in a serious way. We wanted to have a good, serious, start to the season.
"The physical performances were very good, so I think the physical department were happy. Thomas [Frank] was happy with the result and Brian [Riemer] was happy because we kept a clean sheet and defended well. We saw a lot of good, positive things."
This morning we announced the arrival of Aaron Hickey, who signed a four-year contract to be a part of the defensive unit lead by Pontus. We asked the skipper how he felt about it.
"I've only heard positive things about him," said Pontus. "He played with one of my friends in Bologna, Italy. He said a lot of positive things about him so I'm looking forward to working with him from next week. Of course, he has to come in here, work hard and perform. I'm sure he will, that's how Brentford works."
