For the first time since 1948/49, West London rivals Brentford, Fulham, and Queens Park Rangers will all play each other in league matches next season.
That was in the second tier, and Fulham were to be Second Division champions that season, with Rangers finishing mid-table and Brentford avoiding relegation by a single point.
Fulham were elected to the Football League after their Southern League title win in 1907, and would have to wait until 1928 to play both Rangers or Brentford, after their relegation to Division Three South.
Brentford would be the first team out of the three to reach the top flight in 1935, with their West London fix against Chelsea.
Two matches against Queens Park Rangers stand out in Brentford’s 125 year history. Firstly, the Easter Monday clash in 1930, when a Bill Lane hat trick gave us a 3-0 win and secured our place in the record books as the only side to win all their home games in a 21 match programme. This feat has not since been beaten.
The last classic encounter was the opening day 6-1 thrashing of Rangers on 21 August 1965. More than 15,000 at Griffin Park saw Micky Block score a hat trick, with John fielding, Joe Bonson and Ian Lawther completing the scoring.
That would prove to be the last time Rangers visited Griffin Park for 36 years, as the two clubs would then have contrasting fortunes. Rangers won the Football League Cup in 1967 and spent the majority of the 1970s and 1980s in Division One, with Brentford consigned to the lower divisions throughout that period.
There are two matches against Fulham that Brentford fans hold dear. On April 26 1992 Brentford cruised past Fulham 4-0 on their way to the Third Division title. Dean Holdsworth, Marcus Gayle, Gary Blissett and Neil Smillie completed the scoring before half time.
And who can forget our 4-1 demolition of our neighbours at Craven Cottage on Good Friday this year? More than 6,000 Brentford fans witnessed a classy display with two goals from Stuart Dallas, with Alan Judge and Jota adding to the total.
