Brentford entered the final month of the League One campaign, winning two games, losing two and drawing three.
The last League win was a thrilling 3-2 home victory over Portsmouth where Brentford recovered from two goals down with four minutes left to secure three points after a late goal from Clayton Donaldson.
It eventually set up a thrilling finale at home to Doncaster Rovers.
In front of Brentford's biggest league crowd since 1983, Rovers won the game, and the title, with a stoppage time goal.
The Development Squad played three League matches, finishing their campaign at Colchester United with a defeat but ended the season in fourth place with twelve wins from 20 games in the U21 Professional Development League Two South.
