Make the most of your matchday

Direct trains with LNER will not be running on the weekend due to engineering works.

There are three alternative routes to get to the game:

• Travel from London Euston to Birmingham New Street then change for Cross Country services to Newcastle. This will take just under four hours.

• Travel from London St Pancras to Sheffield then to change there for hourly trains to Newcastle, or, for a faster route, change again at Doncaster. This will take just over four hours.

• Travel from from London Euston to Carlisle, then a journey onwards to Newcastle. This will take around four hours.

To comfortably make it for kick-off from any of these departures, you will need to leave before midday. Please check the conditions of your ticket when booking to ensure your ticket is valid for your journey.

Please note there are no trains back on the night of the game. The last train back leaves at 18.58, before the start of the second half, and will require changes at Peterborough and Bedford. To get back after the game, you will need to travel the following morning.

On arrival at Newcastle Station, St James' Park is a 10-minute walk away. You can also use the Yellow Line metro from the train station to St James' Metro Station.

To get to Newcastle from London, head north on the M1 and later the A1. At Gateshead, exit onto the A184 to approach the city. The journey takes between five and six hours.

On-site parking at St James' Park is typically busy with home fans. Newcastle advise that there is no unreserved public parking at the ground.

Instead, there are a number of car parks in the city centre as well as pay and display locations. Use this map of the area to find and book parking. The nearest public car parks to the ground are The Gate Car Park and the Royal Victoria Infirmary. Big Parking also operate a car park at a school near the ground.

Park and ride options are available from outside of the city, costing only £2 with no booking required, available before and after kick-off. Find out more here.

Newcastle United famously have the most pubs in a square mile from the stadium in the Premier League, with over a hundred in this area.

Most pubs welcome visitors. The Head of Steam and ChaChaBuchi, both near Newcastle Station, will be open to Brentford fans.

However, the typically preferred away pub popular previously is the Head of Steam beside the station.

If you are driving home, expect traffic when leaving the city.

Newcastle is renowned as one of the UK’s best nightlife cities. The city centre has hundreds of bars to choose from, and dozens of nightclubs open until the early hours of the morning.

There are plenty of hotels across the city to suit all budgets, such as Premier Inn, Travelodge, Crowne Plaza and a range of independent places.

The city centre has hundreds of restaurants, both chain and independent, many of which are directly enroute to the ground. Alternatively, restaurants across the river offer a pleasant view of the Tyne.

Newcastle also has other tourist attractions, such as its castle, the Victoria Tunnel, Discovery Museum and the iconic Tyne Bridge all recommended to visitors.

The hosts have accessible seating and wheelchair bays on Level 7. There are also accessible toilets and access to changing facilities. A lift is also available for disabled supporters and those with other conditions who wish to avoid or are unable to walk up the fourteen flights of stairs.

There are sixteen wheelchair spaces in the away end, and the club’s fan support team are quick to assist with any help needed.

Disabled parking is operated on a ballot basis. Away fans must email [email protected] to see if they have a space a week before the event once the hosts have done a ballot.

Assistance dogs are welcome however the club must be contacted in advance as well as being in a seat which can accommodate this. Accessibility support can be contacted on [email protected].

For security reasons, supporters can expect to be searched when arriving at the stadium. This includes the search of bags. Large bags and suitcases are not allowed.
