Brentford Women’s First Team will make history today as they play at the Gtech Community Stadium for the first time coming up against Watford Ladies Development in the London South East Regional Women’s Football League Division One North in a 3pm kick-off.

The Bees made it five games unbeaten last weekend as they displayed their best performance of the season beating AFC Acorns in the Second Round of the League Cup. Coming off a victory against a team in the division above gives the First Team great confidence to take into today’s fixture.

With over 8,000 tickets claimed the game today at the Gtech is set to be a momentous occasion. Despite this, Manager Karleigh Osborne wants his players to remain focused on leaving with a win.

Speaking on today’s match, Osborne said: “It’s vital that we don’t get to overwhelmed by the occasion, I want the players to feed off the support in a positive way, but ultimately, we need to focus on getting the three points.

“Of course, today means a lot to everyone and I have no doubt that we will put on a show for the fans but Watford Development will be looking to spoil the party so we need to be at the top of our game.”

The visitors sit six positions below the Bees in the league table in eighth place, but Osborne says he and his side are aware of the danger they possess.

He continued: “Last time we played them they beat us in a tight game, so we are all ready for a tough battle. I’m confident with how my team are playing at the moment and I know if we play our own game we are horrible to play against.

“Our second-half performance last weekend was terrific, we got the ball down and played some brilliant football so I’m looking for the girls to play at that level again.”

Chloe Webb has been a part of the women’s set-up since the age of ten and is the longest-serving player in the team. Now at 21-years-old, the lifelong Brentford fan is excited to be playing on the Gtech pitch for the first time.
