Brentford B play their opening match in the Atlantic Cup on Thursday 2 February as they face South Korean side Ulsan Hyundai in a 7pm kick-off at the Estádio Municipal Bela Vista in Portugal.

The young Bees will play three matches in the competition during their stay in the Algarve as they continue their development with tests against first team opponents.

Up first for them is the current South Korean champions after they won the 2022 K League 1 last year so it’s set to be a brilliant fixture for our young side who are taking part in their second Atlantic Cup tournament.

In opposition

Ulsan Hyundai are in preparation for their 2023 league season and have been in Portugal to get ready for a season which starts later this month. The current head coach of Ulsan Hyundai is Hong Myung-bo who has been in charge of the side since 2021. During his playing days he turned out for side such as Pohang Steelers in South Korea, as well as Kashiwa Reysol before he finished his playing days with LA Galaxy. He won more than 100 caps for South Korea and he captained the side in the impressive 2002 FIFA World Cup campaign as they finished fourth in the competition. A notable name in the Ulsan Hyundai squad is Park Chu-young, who spent time with AS Monaco and Arsenal. He also turned out for FC Seoul back in 2020 against the B team in a friendly match in Portugal. After opening the competition against the young Bees, Ulsan Hyundai will then play FC Midtjylland on Monday before rounding of their tournament against Lyngby.
